About the study

The Business and Finance Management course was created based on an analysis of the current market situation. This analysis shows consistently high demand for specialists in this field, who occupy high-level managerial positions in the organisational structures of various business entities. These issues are extremely popular with students, especially when a practical and modern perspective is adopted. The core learning modules relate to strategic management, human resources, international management, financial management and risk management. Other elements relate to financial data analysis and financial reporting, in addition to cultural and psychological aspects important for global business management. It should be mentioned that this is currently the only course of study of its type offered at the Jagiellonian University.

The Business and Finance Management degree programme uses teaching rooms equipped with audio-visual equipment, facilitating various forms of knowledge presentation and communication with students. The provision of such modern equipment is standard practice. Classes are conducted mostly in rooms equipped with multimedia equipment, whose design, maintenance and continuous development is overseen by the Multimedia Workshop of the Faculty of Management and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University.

The educational process is based on long-standing management studies. The course in English aligns with the university’s development strategy, which highlights the internationalisation of studies. In addition, an English-language management major provides opportunities for double-degree study programmes with partner universities. Studying in English also meets the needs of the local labour market, which is home to numerous multinational corporations. The degree course also addresses the needs of entrepreneurs running their own business to think in terms of competing in both local and international markets. The programme integrates knowledge, skills and social competences in management and economics, along with mathematics and legal sciences. This educational concept is also in line with the Jagiellonian University’s overarching educational mission, as presented in the 'Jagiellonian University Development Strategy to 2030'. This refers in particular to the two main goals included in this strategy: high-quality student education integrated with science and the environment, and an effective impact on the social and economic environment.
